We take into account the program you choose — whether you’re going on a language trip, a High School Year, or enrolling in a study program. In Curaçao, costs can vary depending on the neighborhood, season, and type of accommodation. Your monthly budget therefore depends on the number of weeks, the area where you stay (such as Willemstad, Piscadera, or Jan Thiel), and what is included in your accommodation.

How does our calculation work?
AtSkool uses a transparent, up-to-date, and experience-based method to determine your monthly costs in Curaçao as realistically as possible.
- First, we look at the program you are following. A High School Year often includes a large portion of fixed costs, such as accommodation and meals. With language trips and study programs, this varies per package — the more that is included, the lower your personal monthly expenses will be.
- Next, we analyze your destination within Curaçao. Areas such as Jan Thiel and Mambo Beach are more popular and therefore often slightly more expensive, while residential neighborhoods outside the main tourist hotspots tend to be more affordable.
- We then take the duration of your stay into account. A short stay (for example, a language course) has different spending patterns compared to a full academic year. The longer you stay, the more accurately we can estimate your average monthly budget.
- Your type of accommodation also plays an important role: will you stay with a host family, in a student residence, on campus, or in a shared apartment? Some accommodations include meals, cleaning services, and facilities — while others do not, meaning you will spend more on groceries and daily expenses.
- In addition, we include current local prices for groceries (Curaçao imports many products), transportation (car, scooter, or bus), beach activities, sports, leisure, school materials, and personal expenses. Prices in tourist areas are often higher than in local neighborhoods.
- Finally, we base our monthly budgets on the experiences of previous AtSkool students in Curaçao. Their actual expenses provide an honest and realistic picture of what students typically spend on the island.
