Your monthly budget depends on the number of weeks, the city where you stay (such as London, Manchester, Brighton, or Oxford), and what is included in your accommodation.

How does our calculation work?
AtSkool uses a transparent, accurate, and experience-based approach to calculate your monthly costs in England as realistically as possible.
- First, we determine which program you are following. A High School Year often includes many fixed components such as accommodation, meals, and school fees. With language trips and study programs, packages vary considerably — the more that is included, the less you will need to spend yourself.
- Next, we analyze your destination within England. London is by far the most expensive city due to higher costs for transportation, groceries, and activities. Cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham, or Bournemouth are more affordable, while smaller towns are often even more budget-friendly.
- We then consider the duration of your stay. A short language course has different spending patterns compared to a full academic year. The longer you stay, the more accurately we can estimate your average monthly budget.
- Your type of accommodation is also important: host family, student residence, campus housing, or shared apartment. Host families usually provide (almost) all meals, while other options offer more independence — and therefore involve additional expenses.
- In addition, we include current prices for daily expenses such as transportation (travel cards, regional trains), groceries, sports, leisure activities, clothing, school materials, and weekend activities. England offers both budget-friendly and luxury options — your lifestyle choices largely determine your overall monthly costs.
- Finally, we base our estimates on the experiences of previous AtSkool students. Their actual monthly expenses provide an honest and realistic picture of what students typically spend per region and per program.
